To be the primary resource for Civics education to our community's families and visitors and to present the principles, concepts and beliefs of our founding fathers in ways that communicate to all ages groups.

WELCOME

Honor America, Inc. is a patriotic, public service organization, dedicated to increasing the knowledge of our citizens about America’s heritage, constitutional form of Government and National, State and Local history. Honor America is dedicated to providing programs to promote these qualities to children, students, our community and its visitors.  Honor America operates the Liberty Bell Memorial Museum and the Melbourne Military Memorial Park. Our motto is “Honor America and Respect the Flag”.  Honor America, Inc. is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-sectarian organization.

The national program was orginally sponsored by the American Historic and Cultural Society of Washington, D.C. and was begun on July 4, 1970, by The Rev. Billy Graham, Bob Hope, J. Willard Marriot, and Hobart Lewis.  The purpose was to demonstrate the good things about our nation despite the adverse publicity of current events and unrest at the time.  A few Melbourne businessmen liked the idea of having a local site to remind our community of America's great heritage and history, to commemorate veterans and a place for families to remember loved ones.  Honor America, Inc. was chartered on October 18, 1974, and was located at the Henegar Center.

In October 1985, Honor America moved to its current location at 1601 Hickory Street in what was the old water tower for the City of Melbourne. Today, the old water tower still houses the Rotunda of American History portion of the museum.

Liberty Bell Memorial Museum

The Liberty Bell Memorial Museum is open to the public: Tuesday - Friday 10AM to 4PM and Saturday - 10AM to 2PM.  There is No Charge to tour the Museum.

The Liberty Bell Memorial Museum serves as the anchor for Honor America’s focus on education.  Entry to the Museum is free.  The Museum consists of:

·  The Rotunda of American History, where the major milestones in American history are depicted in a timeline fashion.  This portion of the museum also has displays of local Melbourne and Brevard History, a display of the history of the America Flag and a rotating exhibit that spotlights “Brevard Heroes and Patriots."  Children from the South Brevard public schools raised money in 1976 to purchase a full-sized replica of the Liberty Bell. The full-sized replica of the Liberty Bell serves at the centerpiece in the Rotunda. 

·  Freedom Hall, an annex to the museum, was added in 2005.  The Hall contains a library of military materials, military uniforms, and serves as a meeting/classroom.  It was built through the efforts of many volunteer individuals, business and financial organizations.

·  The American Heritage Theater located in the General Ochs school room, where various videos on American History play throughout the day.

Melbourne Military Memorial Park

The Melbourne Military Memorial Park is located adjacent to the Liberty Bell Memorial Museum and is open 7 days a week from dawn till dusk.  There is no charge to tour the park.

The Melbourne Military Memorial Park, adjacent to the museum, was dedicated to all servicemen and servicewomen in 2002.  The park contains a garden and meditation bench for each war in which the United States has fought.  A plaque describes each war and its cost in lives and money.  The five major military branches have individual monuments with a special monument to honor those men who lost their lives while training at the Melbourne Naval Air Station in WWII.
