Rachel Felton - Curator Emeritus

It is with a deep sense of loss that the Board of Directors of Honor
America, Inc. announces the loss of Rachel Felton.
Rachel, was born in Chicopee, MA and resided in Nashua, NH for 54 years.
In 1990, she relocated to Florida and almost immediately found Honor America
and the Liberty Bell Memorial Museum. Rachel became a volunteer and later
the Curator of Honor America's Liberty Bell Memorial Museum here
in Melbourne, Florida. She served as Curator from 1994 to 2005 and upon
retirement was granted the honor of
Curator
Emeritus. Rachel was a creative and energetic fundraiser
and oversaw many projects at the museum, culminating in the addition of
the Melbourne Military Memorial Park and Freedom Hall. The Board of
Directors, staff and volunteers wish to express their sincere sympathy
to her family during this time.
Thank
You Rachel
Rachel's family will hold a private memorial for Rachel and has requested that in lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Rachel, make donations in her memory to Honor America, Inc., 1601 Oak Street, Melbourne, FL 32901.
I came to the Liberty Bell Museum for the first time about 7 years ago, on a Wednesday morning. Rachel greeted me as I arrived and as she showed me around the museum, she got me to talk about my experiences in the Military and in World War 2. As I was ready to leave she said that she thought I should come and volunteer as a docent leading tours. I tried to say I would think aobut it, but Rachel wasn't about to let me leave until I said yes. Finally, she assked me what day I could volunteer. I said, well Wednesday morning I guess. I've been here every Wednesday morning since then and now my wife Sally comes also. It has been a real treat. Thanks Rachel - Howie Rubin.
